During Wednesday’s State of Play, Joker Studio revealed its first gameplay footage of Sea of Remnants. The puppet pirate game takes on simulation/survival/turn-based strategy genres, being a Venn Diagram of all of them.
In Sea of Remnants, you play as an amnesiac sailor who sets off on a voyage alongside a mysterious girl, becoming two travelers with different goals–yet bound to the same path across the sea.
Joker Studio explained the core of the story: “This is an infinite voyage looping between death and rebirth–a journey where we row forward, tirelessly, only to return to where it all began.”
“Beyond the moon lies another sea, where all answers await. But to this day, no one has proven its existence,” the official synopsis reads. “Captain players will recruit the crews through magenta-hued ocean currents and explore new routes here. Conquer turn-based combat, build a unique island life, and carve the memory into the infinite tides.”
Players can’t do this journey alone as they’ll have to forge and maintain bonds with a wide cast of companions, forming specialized crews, and taking on all challenges the sea brings to your deck. From the trailer, we see magics, monsters, and mermaids all at play.
Much like your crew, your ship can be upgraded and customizable as you collect cannons and parts to outfit your prized vessel for battle and exploring.
Joker Studio plans to reveal more in the coming months before the game’s launch sometime in 2026.
