After teasing a major announcement all week, 1047 Games has revealed something new for its free-to-play shooter Splitgate 2, which has its 1.0 launch today. The announcement at Summer Game Fest 2025 was that Splitgate 2 is not only getting a battle royale mode, but that it’s out now alongside Splitgate 2.

Splitgate creator Ian Proulx published a thank-you message to fans for the game’s 1.0 launch today, writing, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I appreciate this community more than you know.”
The Splitgate 2 battle royale mode launches into a crowded market for battle royale titles, as games like Fortnite, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Warzone currently dominate the landscape.
