Motorola’s early Android 16 list skips some surprising devices

Google pushed Android 16 to compatible Pixel phones just last week (June 10). While the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus are publicly testing Android 16 on their select flagship phones, none of them have officially confirmed the full list of eligible devices yet. While Motorola usually takes its time in pushing the latest Android release, it has already gone ahead and published a preliminary list of phones that will receive Android 16.

I didn’t tell my phone what I wanted, but somehow it knew

First spotted by YtechB, Motorola will update several of its devices to Android 16, which, unsurprisingly, also includes all its recent flagship Razr models. The full list is below:

Motorola Razr:

  • Motorola Razr 2025
  • Motorola Razr+ 2025
  • Motorola Razr Ultra 2025
  • Motorola Razr+ 2024
  • Motorola Razr 60
  • Motorola Razr 60 Ultra
  • Motorola Razr 50 Ultra
  • Motorola Razr 50

  • Motorola Edge 2025
  • Motorola Edge 60 Pro
  • Motorola Edge 60
  • Motorola Edge 60 Fusion
  • Motorola Edge 60 Stylus
  • Motorola Edge 50 Ultra
  • Motorola Edge 50 Pro
  • Motorola Edge 50 Neo
  • Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
  • Motorola Edge 50
  • Motorola Edge 40 Pro

Motorola G Series:

  • Moto G Power 2025
  • Moto G 2025
  • Motorola G Stylus 2025
  • Moto G56
  • Moto G86
  • Moto G86 Power
  • Moto G85
  • Moto G75
  • Moto G55

  • ThinkPhone 25 by Motorola

Will Motorola again forget about its recent mid-range devices?

Surprisingly, the Moto Razr (2024) and the entire Razr (2023) lineup are missing. Several mid-range phones, which launched less than a year ago, like the Moto G55 and G35, are also missing from the list. Even the 2023 IT-oriented $700 ThinkPhone is not mentioned in the list, despite Motorola promising three years of OS updates.

However, this is still a preliminary list, and Motorola could update their security pages in the coming weeks to reflect that they will get Android 16. Even then, it’s entirely possible that Motorola will skip upgrading some of its recent mid-range devices to Android 16. After all, the company did something similar with the Android 15 update for its budget Moto G devices.

On a positive note, it’s encouraging to see Motorola provide an initial list of devices eligible for Android 16 so soon. However, the company does not have the best track record for speedy OS updates, so don’t expect Android 16 to land on your Moto anytime soon.
