There are multiple ways to get help from Gemini to perform tasks faster, thanks to its robust accessibility features, such as using gestures or a button to launch the app overlay and get started. But the best part of Gemini is that it continues to get better, as Google keeps adding new functionalities at a rapid pace, to the point where some features come to our attention a few days after their launch.
Many of these changes may sound minor on paper, but have a big impact on how you use Gemini and for what purpose. One such change has recently arrived on Gemini’s Android client. While Gemini already sees, hears, and understands your video clips, it now has a new voice feature that makes using your voice worthwhile, especially if you’re a music lover.
Gemini on Android finally gains support for Song Search
As spotted by 9to5Google, Gemini has learned a new voice skill that identifies the tune you’re humming or singing using your voice. One of the prompts that you should use for this to work is “What song is this?” Next, it’ll open a full-screen interface and tell you to “Play, sing, or hum a song…” to show you the best results from Google Search.
It’ll also show match percentages to suggest the most likely song you’re humming. The tune with the highest percentage score will top the results. You can try again if you don’t see what you’re looking for. This isn’t something Google has built from scratch specifically for Gemini users. The Mountain View tech giant simply ported the Song Search feature from the Google app to Gemini for Android.
However, unlike the Google app, which has a song search button on the home page, you’ll need to type a prompt in Gemini to use the feature. In Gemini, you’ll have to type the prompt each time you exit the full-screen interface to use the Song Search feature. Since this is the same Song Search feature as in the Google app, the level of accuracy is also no different. So, if you like it on the Google app, you’ll probably also like it on Gemini.
We looked for the same feature on Gemini for iOS, but the prompt doesn’t work as it should at the moment. So, for now, the Song Search feature is exclusive to Gemini on Android. Although there is no official confirmation from Google, the feature will likely be available for iOS users at some point in the future.
