Android 16 arrived for Pixels alongside the June 2025 Feature Drop, bringing several new features like the Pixel VIPs widget, AI-powered editing tools in Google Photos, and more. It also announced an “education hub” for the Pixel Camera app, guiding users on how to use all its features with tips and sample shots. However, the feature never actually went live with the June 2025 update. Now, with the month nearly over, Google is finally making good on its promise and rolling out the education hub in the Pixel Camera app.

Custom group chat icons are finally here
The top toolbar in the Pixel Camera app now displays a “?” icon in the top-right corner. Tapping it will open the education hub, where you can learn about the Pixel Camera’s various modes and how to use them. Google will first display sample shots from the Pixel community to help illustrate what the mode is capable of.
A floating “Open Camera” button in the bottom-right will take you back to the camera viewfinder. While it is always visible in the education hub, it won’t take you directly to the corresponding camera mode.
Towards the bottom, you will find tips related to 10-bit HDR video recording, manual lens recording, Pro controls, and locked folder. The hub does not mention anything about Social share, unofficially confirming that Google has deprecated the feature.
Education hub will benefit new Pixel users
Admittedly, if you are a long-time pro Pixel user, you won’t find the education hub useful. But it can be a great starting point for new users looking to know what their Pixel phone’s camera can do and how to use it, especially for modes like Action Pan, Long Exposure, and Astro. The sample shots in the hub also do a great job of showcasing the Pixel camera’s imaging capabilities.
The Education Hub icon appeared on my Pixel 8 Pro this morning, running the stable Android 16 build and the latest Pixel Camera app (v9.9). Even the folks at Android Authority got access to the feature, indicating Google has begun a wide rollout. However, make sure to update the Pixel Camera to the latest build, as the hub will seemingly not show up on releases older than v9.9.
