Fitbit’s latest kid-focused smartwatch, the Ace LTE, packs activity tracking, calling, texting, and a water-resistant build into one sturdy smartwatch. It’s privacy-conscious too—location history wipes after 24 hours, and activity data clears in 35 days.

If your kids are always off exploring, a smartwatch built for their age is a solid way to stay connected without jumping straight to a phone. It bridges that gap before handing over a full-blown smartphone, letting you stay in the loop without going overboard. With built-in safety features like GPS tracking and SOS alerts, it’s a solid peace-of-mind device that actually fits their age.

Right before Prime Day hits, the Fitbit Ace LTE just dropped back to its lowest price ever—only $150 on Amazon (down from $180). Both color options are included, so if you’ve been eyeing one, now’s your chance to snag it.

What’s great about the Fitbit Ace?

The Fitbit Ace stands out as our top smartwatch pick for kids thanks to its all-around usefulness and thoughtful design. Built tough for everyday wear, it makes it super easy for parents to keep tabs on where their kids are and reach out when needed. With accurate GPS, calling and texting features, plus parental controls, it covers all the bases to help parents breathe a little easier.

In our review, we gave this smartwatch big props for being super easy to use—especially the app, which makes parental controls, tracking, texting, and calling a breeze. On top of that, it impressed us with its tough build and sharp OLED screen that’s easy on the eyes.

Google’s Fitbit Ace LTE is a near-perfect fitness tracker for kids

It’s absolutely worth the price

The Fitbit Ace LTE is a great pick for younger kids who aren’t quite ready for a phone. It works with both Android and iOS for setup, but after that, it no longer requires a phone. With LTE onboard, kids can text or call approved contacts.

The Fitbit Ace app is your command center for managing your kid’s smartwatch. You choose exactly who they can text or call, but those contacts need the Ace app too. To unlock calling, texting, and GPS tracking, you’ll need the Ace Pass, which runs $9.99/month. That covers LTE, so there’s no need to mess with a separate phone plan. The app also lets you set “school hours” to pause games and calls during class time. Plus, you can check your kid’s location right in the app or even through Google Maps.

As you’d hope, this smartwatch is built tough, with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and a bumper that shrugs off daily drops and dings. It’s also ready for messy adventures, thanks to its water and dust resistance.
