The lock screen might seem like a small aspect of smartphone use, but it’s the first thing you see nearly every time you look at your device. So, it makes sense Samsung has gone all-out bringing as much functionality as possible to its popular, user-friendly Good Lock app. Making tons of features readily accessible without the need to dig through menus or app drawers can make interacting with your phone faster, easier, and more effective.
In that light, a new Good Lock feature taking advantage of the Galaxy Z Flip’s cover screen shouldn’t surprise anybody. Called FlipShot, it’s exclusive to Samsung’s hamburger-style foldables, and lets you incorporate brief messages and fun graphics while taking mirror selfies (Source: Sammy Fans).

FlipShot probably won’t revolutionize the selfie scene, but it is fun and easy to use. Part of the MultStar module, it lets Galaxy Z Flip owners incorporate neat photos and brief messages into mirror selfies. In other words, as you snap a pic of your beautiful self in the mirror, your phone’s cover display joins in with the words of imagery of your choice.
Note that this will actually hinder the process if you’re not taking the picture in a mirror, as it appears FlipShot will preempt the viewfinder that would otherwise occupy the outer screen. It’s mirror selfies only for this one. Naturally, it will only be available for Z Flip devices. Although it works with older versions of One UI, it’s hard to imagine it being especially useful on the Z Flip 5 or older, due to their cover screens’ small stature.
Is it the most groundbreaking addition? No. It seems to closely resemble Google’s foldable-centric Made You Look, which mostly serves to grab subjects’ attention while snapping pictures of them. But it’s a clever addition, and provides evidence Samsung is incorporating its foldables’ second screens in every way possible. It also implies developers remain hard at work improving Good Lock, which is already one of the Galaxy ecosystem’s most beloved apps.
You can download the app or the latest MultiStar version from the Galaxy Store. Or, head into Good Lock, access the MultiStar module, and update it from there. Good lock is also on the Google Play Store, but take note you’ll still need to update the module from within, because the Play Store is still one version behind.
