I’m a sweaty guy — it’s just who I am. This summer, a birthday gift from my dad has been saving my sheets, which would otherwise be suffering from the relentless heat waves that have gripped Brooklyn lately.
This popular globe fan is also a huge hit among college students. My college-aged cousins all say it’s a favorite in the dorms, and I can see why. It’s quiet, comes with a remote, and doesn’t take up much space.
Over at Amazon, price gougers are jacking up prices on this fan as high as $69.99, quite a bit higher than the retail price of $49.99. But we’re not shopping at Amazon today.

If you want to pick up this oscillating fan on sale, head to Walmart, where it’s marked down to $39.97. (That’s a whole two cents cheaper than the sale price at Best Buy.) For obvious reasons, fans are extremely popular at the moment, and it’s always nice to catch one on sale in the peak of the summer heat.
The fan can be adjusted vertically and horizontally, letting you direct air exactly where you want it. Oscillating also creates a consistent flow throughout the room, and you can cycle between three speeds. There’s an additional breeze setting that’s supposed to simulate the variable speed of wind. I’ve found this setting is nice but not particularly cooling, but I could see it being useful if you just want to feel some fresh air on your face.
Additional features include a remote control and a timer feature, which will shut the fan off automatically after a set period of time. I’ve found it to be surprisingly powerful given its compact size and quiet operation. I can leave the fan on during online meetings, whereas my air conditioner creates a distracting noise.
