‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’ trailer means the animatronic nightmare isn’t over

The animatronic nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza has become legend in the trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Director Emma Tammi is back with a sequel to her 2023 film (the highest grossing horror film of that year, and Blumhouse’s best opening weekend ever). Based on Scott Cawthon’s game series, the film sees the cursed, animatronic-filled lair of a pizzeria a sort of dark tourism spot, with the tale of the first film inspiring the first ever Fazfest. What could possibly go wrong?

Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Lail are back as former Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza security guard Mike and cop Vanessa, who survived the first film and haven’t quite told Mike’s sister Abby (Piper Rubio) what really went down with haunted animatronic fiends Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. Trying to reach her friends on the radio, Abby hears the creepy voices Mike and Vanessa thought long defeated. Yep, they’re baaaaaack.

Matthew Lillard reprises his role from the first film, with his Scream co-star Skeet Ulrich joining for the sequel (Billy and Stu reunited!). Theodus Crane is also back, with new cast additions including Jurassic Park/Seinfeld legend Wayne Knight, Shadow and Bone‘s Freddy Carter, and Annabelle Comes Home‘s Mckenna Grace.

Here’s how to watch the first Five Nights at Freddy’s film, but just know Mashable Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko wrote in her review, “Five Nights At Freddy’s gets so bogged down in a soggy plotline about dream theory, guilt, and child custody that it forgets to be entertaining.” Maybe the sequel will be better?

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 hits cinemas Dec. 2.
