The Late Show may have been canceled, but Stephen Colbert is still on the air until next May — and he’s not going to stop talking about Donald Trump and convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In the clip above, the host starts by mentioning a recent Wall Street Journal report about Attorney General Pam Bondi informing the president that he was in the so-called “Epstein files” back in May.
“I, for one, was shocked,” says Colbert. “What are you going to tell me next? That the Pope is in the Catholic files? That a bear is on the cover of this month’s Modern Woodspooper?”
He goes on to play a resurfaced clip from a 2010 deposition, in which Epstein chooses to invoke his “Fifth, Sixth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights” rather than answering a question about whether he and Trump ever spent time together with “females under the age of 18.”
“Not a great sign when the paedophile is being asked if you’re doing a pervert ride-along, and their response is, ‘I’d like to invoke the entire Constitution, the Magna Carta, the Napoleonic Code and, just to cover my bases, let’s throw in the entire Cheesecake Factory menu.”
