I’m not too surprised by any of these rumors. With how expensive game development has become, it just makes sense that Sony would explore bringing more of their titles to other platforms—including Xbox. They’ve already mentioned their push toward live-service games, which we know are going to be multi-platform anyway.
And when you think about games like Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2—as incredible as they are—most of the core PlayStation audience has already played them. Bringing them to Xbox, even a few years after launch, could mean millions of additional sales. At $70 a copy, that’s significant revenue they could reinvest in future projects.
Plus, from Marvel’s perspective, wider exposure might actually be a benefit. It’s similar to what happened with MLB The Show—Sony kept developing it, but MLB wanted it on more platforms. A situation like that could help Sony maintain strong licensing partnerships while also reaching new players.
To be clear, I’m not expecting day-one PlayStation games on Xbox. But older titles coming over 3–5 years later? It just seems like a smart, sustainable strategy for both business and fans. And with the possibility of future Xbox consoles supporting things like Steam, many of these games might be playable there anyway—so Sony choosing to port them directly could be a win-win.
