Galaxy Z Fold 7 teardown shows off complex inner workings

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is getting plenty of love thanks to its revamped design that features a sleek look and super-slim profile. In addition to the new look, the brand has also taken steps to make the hardware better, improving durability, which is vital when you’re dealing with foldable phones.

And while we love the idea of foldable phones getting better in every single way, one still has to wonder just how repairable it is when something goes wrong. We’ve seen teardowns before, but iFixit does some of the best, providing a simple and easy-to-follow video in order to better understand the inner workings of your phone.

A tough one to fix

The brand has now released its teardown video for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which shows that repairing this phone isn’t for the faint of heart (via 9to5Google). While not impossible, there are some areas that are going to be extremely difficult. We don’t think many will attempt repairing this phone right now, but it’s at least good to see a video that breaks down how to break it down into parts if needed.

Despite most of the parts coming out of the phone with ease, the one area that seems to be a difficult is going to be the foldable screen, which is the most expensive part. In order to remove this component, the adhesive frame surrounding the screen needs to be removed. Sadly, this is easier said than done, as the video shows that the frame needs to be destroyed in order for this to happen.

Another hurdle that iFixit points out is that parts for Samsung’s foldables aren’t readily available for purchase. The company does its best to partner with brands in order to provide parts on its own store, but that doesn’t seem to be the case when it comes to Samsung foldables. While iFixit does have parts for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, it doesn’t any parts available for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Of course, these parts could become available in the future, so it’s good that iFixit took the time to break down the Z Fold 7, since it will be one of the more popular foldable models released in the US. If you have yet to grab the phone, you can now purchase the handset from retailers with a special discount.
