Within days of Google pushing the August security patch for compatible Pixel devices, Samsung has made the update live for the Galaxy S25 in Korea.
With the company confirming that it will only roll out the stable One UI 8 build in September, the August firmware for the Galaxy S25 contains the latest monthly security patch and little else.
The AYG6 build weighs around 546MB and is currently live for S25 units in South Korea. It should expand to more regions, carriers, and more Galaxy devices in the coming weeks.
Samsung has published its August security bulletin, detailing the vulnerabilities the monthly patch addresses. This includes one critical and several high-severity vulnerabilities.
You can check if the firmware is live in your region and available for download by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install on your phone.
This update will only show up for S25 users still on the stable One UI 7 channel. The company will presumably roll out a newer One UI 8 beta build for units on the Android 16 beta program containing the August security patch.
The July firmware was also a relatively minor one for Samsung’s 2025 flagship, containing only patches for security vulnerabilities.
Galaxy S25 owners need to wait another month for One UI 8
Even after four beta builds and a stable One UI 8 release on the Fold 7 and Flip 7, Android 16 won’t reach S25 users until September. When it does arrive, it will contain several new features and enhance existing ones.
Older Galaxy device owners have an even longer wait ahead, with the company expanding the beta program to the S24, Z Fold 6, and Flip 6 starting August 11 and pushing the stable build only later in September.
The delay kind of undermines Samsung’s efforts to streamline its Android and One UI development for speedier updates. It seems the company will keep new Android releases exclusive to its latest flagship devices for a while before rolling them out to older models.
