The reality is for some games it makes sense to be on GP and Plus. And in some instances a studio getting a check upfront to keep the studio open and finish the project is well worth it
I agree with take two CEO:
essence, Zelnick’s position is that while subscription services can be a viable option for certain games especially legacy catalog, they are not a suitable model for the launch of Take-Two’s biggest AAA titles due to economic and long-term profitability considerations. For example giving call of duty on GP can be good if they came with minium requirement for 6 months of GP membership sign up but giving it for $20 is bad business when it’s the best selling game every year and can be sold for $70 a copy
But these are arguments which will continue. One side will always defend it and the other will always be negative. So if you enjoy it good for you it’s not like many of us are major stockholders in these companies so just enjoy the deals
