Like Sam Cooke in Wonderful World I don’t know what a slide rule is for, but I did recognize that today’s Strands was about drawing of some kind, although I was on the wrong track for a while.
After getting LINE quickly, I then saw “class” and instead of finding “geometry” I saw that it connected with “art”. I was so convinced that “art class” was today’s spangram I tried twice before moving onwards.
Eventually what helped me was taking a hint and getting AREA and then finding VOLUME, effectively cutting the board in half and making that incredibly long spangram easier to spot.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Monday, September 1, game #547)

- SERVE
- INVITE
- EMBRACE
- RECEIVE
- WELCOME
