Samsung’s Health app update brings virtual doctor visits, Walgreens prescription integration, and expert-guided workouts

Samsung has made some big splashes this summer with its new foldable handsets, and could make things even more interesting with its latest Galaxy event set to take place on September 4. Of course, it’s not all about the hardware with Samsung, as it has brought some major changes with its software updates as well.

The brand’s One UI update has delivered a stellar experience for its mobile products, and it’s now announced a variety of updates to its Health app that bring even more tools to users’ fingertips. Perhaps one of the biggest additions with this update is that users will now have access to virtual physicians.

Samsung’s making some big changes

As you can imagine, this is a pretty big deal, considering that sometimes it can be hard to head into an office when you need support about your health, or have a small question or need some simple advice. Of course, this type of service is quite common now, but it’s nice that this feature is available in the Samsung Health app for easy access.

Of course, Samsung can’t do this all alone, and it’s relying on HealthTap to get things done, which has been a reliable online service provider for some time now. The great part about this service is that you can meet with a doctor the same week or sometimes even the same day. There’s even support for chatting with a doctor as well when it’s not urgent.

In addition, the new update will allow users to gain better management of their prescription medication thanks to a new system that will integrate with Walgreen’s pharmacies. This will be available in the Health Records section, and will provide access to any prescriptions past and present that were issued from the pharmacy.

For now, there is no way to submit or renew prescriptions from the Samsung Health app. The new feature is simply a way to stay organized with your medication and have it integrate with your Samsung Health data. The Samsung Health app will now also be able to provide “expert-guided workouts” on your smartphone, making it even easier to stay fit.

Overall, these are some huge additions to the Samsung Health app, with the virtual doctor appointments being the biggest highlight. While these are exciting new changes, we know that Samsung already has more coming, with an AI Healthcare Coach which is set to make its debut sometime in 2025. If interested in any of this, we recommend giving the new update a try.
