Life Is Strange Creators Not Involved In TV Series, Writer Says

The Life is Strange TV series is finally, after years of development, being made, as Amazon MGM Studios just recently announced a series order. One of the writers of the original game has reacted to the announcement, saying in a post on social media, “The only people not involved are the creators.”

IGN discovered that Christian Divine, who wrote the first two Life is Strange games, posted this recently, but hasn’t followed up with any further commentary.

People have pointed out that Amazon MGM Studios’ announcement didn’t include mention of the original creators of Life Is Strange, Don’t Nod, or any of the original writers. When the show was first announced all the way back in 2016, there was no mention of Don’t Nod, either.

Don’t Nod’s Luc Baghadoust said in a social media post of their own that it’s an “incredible honor” to see Life is Strange get adapted into a TV series.

Don’t Nod has not been involved with the Life is Strange series for years already, with developer Deck Nine taking over. Square Enix owns the Life is Strange series. The latest entry in the series was 2024’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

The Life is Strange TV series is being led by Sonic the Hedgehog producers Story Kitchen, along with Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap and Square Enix.

The show’s creator and showrunner is Charlie Covell, who previously adapted The End of the F***king World and Kaos.

Life is Strange joins not only the Tomb Raider series at Amazon, but also a long-in-development God of War series and Season 2 of Fallout. Amazon also has the Mass Effect TV show and the Wolfenstein TV show.

It’s still early days for the Life is Strange TV series, and there is no word yet on who may star in it or when it could be released.
