‘Queens of the Dead’ trailer: It’s a drag queen zombie apocalypse!

Ever watched a zombie movie and thought, this could use more drag queens? Then IFC’s upcoming queer horror comedy Queens of the Dead should be right up your alley.

The film is the debut feature from director Tina Romero, who’s the daughter of Night of the Living Dead director (and all-around zombie royalty) George A. Romero. Tina Romero co-wrote the film with Erin Judge.

Queens of the Dead stars Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding) as Dre, a DJ and drag producer looking to throw an epic Bushwick warehouse party, the kind people would die to attend. But that sentiment gets all too literal when actual zombies show up to wreak havoc on the party’s combination of drag queens and club kids. Can Dre and her friends survive the zombie apocalypse?

In addition to O’Brian, the Queens of the Dead cast is a who’s-who of queer film and TV. Co-stars include Margaret Cho, Tony nominee and Mean Girls scene-stealer Jaquel Spivey, I Saw the TV Glow‘s Jack Haven, Fire Island‘s Tomás Matos, RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Nina West, and Pose‘s Dominique Jackson.

Check out the full trailer above to get a taste of the glittery carnage and zombie slaying Queens of the Dead has to offer. (I’m particularly excited to watch Cho take down zombies with a drill.) The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.

Queens of the Dead hits theaters Oct. 24.
