Samsung’s Tri-Fold phone could come to the U.S. this year

September 18, 2025

Samsung released its best foldable yet in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 earlier this year, but it might try to outdo itself before the year is over.

A couple of different reports indicate that Samsung’s oft-rumored “Tri-Fold” phone (which would be an extra-large foldable that has two creases instead of just one) is set to launch this year. For starters, Korean tech outlets like Newspim reported a couple of weeks ago that Samsung will hold a launch event in its home country for the phone at the end of September. This event would also reportedly feature information on Samsung’s Project Moohan XR headset, as well as a previously unannounced pair of smart glasses. Samsung held an Unpacked event in July that was suspiciously silent on both Moohan and the Tri-Fold.

If true, that would cover the device’s launch plans in the Asian market. But what about the U.S.? According to a CNN report published Thursday morning, Samsung is still working out which markets will get the Tri-Fold at launch, but a U.S. release is “part of those discussions,” per the report. If Samsung were to launch the phone simultaneously in Asia and the west, it would be a slight departure from some of its previous product launches, which occurred in Asia first and the west later.

Regardless of if (or when) this phone comes stateside, expect it to be very expensive, if nothing else.
