One UI 8.5 leak offers a closer look at the Quick Settings makeover

Samsung is currently rolling out the One UI 8 update for its devices, starting with the Galaxy S25 recently. In the midst of this particular update’s rollout, we’ve also come across a leak that details what’s to come in One UI 8.5.

This is the next big upgrade to Samsung’s software that could debut with the Galaxy S26 in early 2026. A leak on Friday gave us our first-ever glimpse at One UI 8.5, and it seems like the floodgates have been officially opened for more to follow.

User wr3cckl3ss1 on X/Twitter shared a series of screenshots detailing the changes coming to One UI 8.5 (build number S938BXXU5CYIA), reportedly running an early build of the software on the Galaxy S25 Ultra (via SammyGuru).

Specifically, we’re getting a good look at the revamped Quick Settings menu, which will bring resizable tiles for extensive customization. This is consistent with the changes introduced in the recent Android 16 QPR1 update for Pixel devices.

More One UI 8.5 leaks could be coming our way

We’re also seeing a brand-new “Add a control” button at the bottom of the Quick Settings sheet that appears when you’re resizing or rearranging the icons. Meanwhile, one of the screenshots offers a detailed look at the Software information page, revealing the presence of the September 2025 security patch and the October 2025 Google Play system update.

In addition to the extensive One UI 8.5 leak on Friday, SammyGuru has also uncovered evidence of an updated My Files app with the upcoming software. Users will find new circular icons for file categories, while the search bar is moving to the bottom of the screen.

The updated My Files and Phone apps in One UI 8.5

Separately, the publication also published screenshots of the updated Phone app from One UI 8.5, highlighting some key design changes, including the floating pill-shaped navigation bar containing buttons for Keypad, Recents, and Contacts menus. A new Direct Voicemail option has also made its way to the Phone app’s settings menu.

These are not going to be the last One UI 8.5 leaks we encounter in the coming weeks, as more users find a way to run this early build of the software on their Galaxy devices.

It’s hard to deny that some of these leaked One UI 8.5 screenshots may be inspired by Apple’s iOS 26. While it’s entirely possible that the final version of One UI 8.5 may not resemble what we’re seeing here, we’d be surprised if that happens.
