It really depends on who’s making the game. If they bring in a solid developer like WayForward or Bombservice, there’s real potential. Those teams know how to make tight, well-designed 2D games that actually play well.
But if it’s being done in-house by the same team behind the Reboot, I’m not too hopeful. They’ve shown they can make pretty games, but with very little depth. A good Metroidvania needs strong level design, real exploration, and smart gameplay—none of which they’ve proven they can deliver.
