I think the big difference with games like Apex, Rocket League, etc, is that those are games which are already MP-based. So the whole ‘F2P GAS’ set up doesn’t REALLY affect the core gameplay experience, because nobody is really looking for a ‘career-mode’ or story in those sort of games. You just go online, play for a while with/against others, unlock some stuff maybe, and that’s it.
For me, in a game like Skate, I’m not interested at all about going online with others and dealing with some ‘community’. I just want a basic SP set-up where you just do your own thing and unlock new areas and stuff.
Same goes for a game like SSX3. If they’re gonna push out a new SSX, I’m sure they want to focus on MP again and do everything bigger and more ambitious, while I just want it to be SSX3, but with new stages, better graphics, and that’s all it needs to be.
The suits in charge simply don’t ‘get’ gaming, and they’re arrogant enough to push through their ideas of what they think we should want.
