A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight each day for your time zone – which means that some people are always playing ‘today’s game’ while others are playing ‘yesterday’s’. Strands is the NYT’s latest word game after the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands hints.

NYT Strands today (game #573) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #573, are…
- QUIET
- SILENT
- INAUDIBLE
- HUSHED
- NOISELESS
- SPANGRAM: PIPEDOWN
- My rating: Hard
- My score: Perfect
I’m sure I was not the only player who spotted QUIET immediately – the combination of a Q word and its location in the top-left corner made this an easy one to recognize. SILENT was similarly straightforward, but things got a bit more tricky after that.
Hopefully I also was not the only player to see PIPE and DOWN and not put them together straight away. Seeing today’s spangram only coming after INAUDIBLE and HUSHED made it visible.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Friday, September 26, game #572)
- PENDULUM
- GEARS
- CHIMES
- WINDER
- WEIGHTS
- SPANGRAM: GRANDFATHERCLOCK
