When we first heard about the Galaxy TriFold, it sounded like Samsung’s next bold experiment. The phone folds not once, but twice, offering three panels of display. It’s meant to escape the boundary between smartphone and tablet, becoming something in between. Early concepts and animations teased that ambition. Now, thanks to a fresh leak, we see just how serious Samsung might be about making it real.
The latest crop of leaked animations, courtesy of @TechHighest and @evowizz on X, paints the TriFold as a multitasking machine (via SamMobile). From the get-go, these leaked UI sequences emphasize fluid transitions, showing how apps opening on the cover display can continue seamlessly as you unfold the device, without jarring restarts or layout shifts.
In one clip, Samsung’s Internet app runs with Galaxy AI occupying roughly a third of the full display; the AI panel can also detach into its own floating window for a more flexible workflow.
Floating windows aren’t just gimmicks. In calls, the UI shows that the call interface becomes a movable overlay while you continue other tasks. The animations also point to a close resemblance with DeX, suggesting that when fully unfolded (or when hooked to an external monitor), the TriFold could behave more like a mini PC than a phone.
One of the leaks turns heads with the camera interface: a 100x zoom option appears in the animations. That’s bold, as most previous Samsung foldable phones capped their telephoto capabilities at approximately 3x. If accurate, it suggests Samsung might finally bring ultra-telephoto or periscope technology to its foldable line.
Alongside that, the TriFold is expected to carry over Samsung’s high-resolution main camera sensors — perhaps 200 MP — aligning with what we have seen in the latest Galaxy S and Fold models.
Dual-hinge design brings new tricks — and new risks
Structurally, leaks suggest a design using two hinges (a dual-hinge system). The folding order might matter: one animation suggests that the left panel should fold before the right to avoid damage, possibly due to the asymmetry caused by the camera bump. In some leaks, the central panel doubles as a cover display when the device is folded shut. The UI appears ready to mirror the home screen layout across the cover and inner displays to reduce friction when unfolding.
Most rumors suggest an announcement in late 2025, likely in October or November. That said, Samsung may still be weighing whether to roll it out globally. As for pricing, one leak pegs it around $3,000, which is a steep ask, but perhaps in line with its ambition.
There are still some risks. More moving parts, hinge durability, extra thickness and weight, and higher battery demands will all be tougher to handle with a device that folds twice. The TriFold’s success will depend not just on hype, but on whether it can deliver the smooth multitasking shown in the leaks.
