If you’ve been waiting to buy something on Steam, now’s the perfect time to do so. That’s because the Steam Autumn Sale just started up again and will continue for the next week.
Many games have received significant discounts. Amazing games like Control: Ultimate Edition and Doom Eternal are available for under $5, while more recent PC releases like Stellar Blade are also much cheaper than usual.
What is the Steam Autumn Sale?
And what games should you pick up during it?
If you play games on PC, Steam is by far the most popular and beloved game storefront and launcher of them all. It’s also famous for its frequent sales, with the seasonal ones in particular attracting attention every year.
This year’s Steam Autumn Sale kicked off at 1 p.m. ET today, September 29, and it will run until 1 p.m. ET on October 6. During that time, thousands of games, big and small, will be available on Steam at a discount.
Steam operator Valve spotlights some particularly good “Featured Deep Discounts” itself, and this sale’s batch is quite good. The marquee deep discount is for Control: Ultimate Edition. All of Remedy Entertainment’s games have received pretty substantial discounts for this sale, even the underperforming FBC: Firebreak, but I think it’s worth picking up Control: Ultimate Edition for just $4 if you’ve never played it before. If you do, you’re in for a trippy sci-fi action game treat.
Meanwhile, the whole Doom series has gotten some pretty sizable discounts. While you can pick up Doom: The Dark Ages for $46.89 during the sale (its cheapest price yet), its predecessors Doom and Doom Eternal are available for just $4 during the Steam Autumn Sale and are absolute steals at that price.
Looking at the sale at large, there are plenty of other good deals to choose from. Indie hit Peak is just $6.39 during the Steam Autumn Sale. Meanwhile, the PC port of Stellar Blade is $48, and Baldur’s Gate 3 is $45. I’d also recommend the $40.71 Path of the Ninja Bundle so you can play Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.
After a sale like this, you’ll have plenty of great games to play on PC or a handheld like the Steam Deck or upcoming ROG Xbox Ally X. On that note, the basic 256 GB LCD Steam Deck model has been discounted by 20% to $319.20 between now and October 6, meaning you can pick it up for less than a third of the price of Microsoft and Asus’ handheld PC.
Regardless of whether or not my recommendations interest you, it’s definitely worth booting up Steam sometime over the next week to see if a game you want to pick up is currently on sale.
