Google Wallet’s fresh new look is finally available to all

We’ve seen Google products slowly change over the past year, with most getting a Material 3 Expressive redesign. It’s exciting to see our favorite Google apps get a new coat of paint, and other small changes that add quality of life improvements. A new update is now finally rolling out to more people, bringing small cosmetic changes to the app. The folks at 9to5Google spotted the roll-out, which should be reaching most people starting today.

Wallet is getting new UI refinements

The first thing that you’ll notice is that the “Wallet” text in the upper left-hand corner of the app has now been replaced with a new Wallet logo. Furthermore, the icon to add a new card to your Wallet has now been simplified, represented by a “+” instead of the previous “+ Add to Wallet”

Additionally, past transactions from a card are now easier to see, while updated animations have also been added as well. For the most part, not a huge set of changes for Google Wallet. But it’s a move in a new direction that could evolve quite dramatically over the next couple of years.

Google Wallet has made huge strides with the ability to store pretty much anything you need. While credit and debit cards are the obvious choices, you can also now add your ID, passport, tickets, loyalty cards, keys, and so much more. It really has become a digital replacement for your physical wallet, making it possible to just leave home with just your phone.

So, if you’ve been looking forward to a new change, be sure to update your Wallet app on Android and give it a go. Since this is a server-side update, you don’t need to download a new version. Just make sure you close out the app completely and restart it in order to see the changes. Also be sure that you’re on the latest update, version 25.38.
