Battlefield 6 is getting a 1.0.1.0 update at launch featuring a “wide range of updates and improvements,” spanning more than 200 changes in all.
Battlefield 6 is EA’s first major new release following the announcement that the company revealed plans to sell itself to Saudi Arabia’s PIF, Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners, and private equity company Silver Lake for $55 billion. If the game doesn’t succeed, there is a chance EA could sell one of the developers, DICE, according to a report.
Battlefield 6 is the first entry in the series since 2021’s Battlefield 2042, a game that was a disappointment for many fans. Things look better for Battlefield 6, but experts do not believe the game has enough juice to beat Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 this year. In any event, EA is having some playful fun with the competition, recently releasing a live-action trailer for Battlefield 6 that roasts Call of Duty.
Like other online games, Battlefield 6 is embracing a live-service model. Season 1 goes live on October 28, ushering in new maps and guns, with multiple subsequent phases of Season 1 to debut in November and December. October 28 is also the day that Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode could launch.
