The Pixel 10 Pro Fold cracks under pressure — literally

October 14, 2025

The US is pretty limited when it comes to foldable phones, but we’ve seen some pretty good releases this year with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. While the latter was announced back in August, we’re just seeing it hit retail shelves, making it the newest foldable phone you can buy in the US.

Naturally, if you’re thinking about picking one up, you’ll probably want to know just how durable it is, especially when you’re spending $1,799 on it. Luckily, JerryRigEverything has just released a new video, giving us a look at how much abuse this phone can handle. And you probably won’t be surprised with the results.

You can’t expect much more from a foldable

The JerryRigEverything YouTube channel has been testing phones for years now, and for the most part, it shows what types of extremes a phone can handle. When it comes to foldable phones, it’s important to note just how delicate the inner display is, with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold easily seeing indentations from fingernails on the screen when interacting with it.

Another thing the test reveals is that the hinge isn’t all that well protected, despite the phone having an IP68 rating. When sand is thrown on the hinge in the video, it easily finds its way into the groove, and seems to find its way into the innards of the device. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold also seems to have the same weakness near its antenna lines, just like the previous model.

When pressure is applied in this area, the phone easily snaps. So, if you have a tendency to put your phone in compromising positions, be aware that this phone has a crucial weakness. During the testing phase, JerryRigEverything even managed to get the phone battery to ignite, which can be dangerous.

Again, these are extreme tests, so we don’t think most people will ever see something like this happen, but it’s good to know about them. It’s interesting to see a phone put through extreme scenarios, especially when they cost so much. Again, we don’t think most people will put their phones through this kind of gauntlet of tests, but if you’re concerned about the durability of your device, it’s always a good idea to buy an additional warranty that will cover accidental damage.
