Samsung’s One UI 8 update arrives for the Galaxy Tab S9

It didn’t take all that long for Samsung to roll out its One UI 8 update to supported devices, which is a good thing considering how catastrophic the One UI 7 update was. Just last month, we saw One UI 8 arrive on a bunch of older phones and tablets, and it looks like the update is now expanding to even more devices.

SamMobile reports that the update is starting to land on Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets across the globe. So if you’re in Asia, Europe, or the US, you’ll want to head into the settings menu of your Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra in order to get the update. Naturally, it’s not hitting all regions at once, so if you don’t see it, just be patient.

The Galaxy Tab S9 is getting better

If you’re unfamiliar with One UI 8, it is a pretty modest update that focuses on making the Android experience tighter across Samsung’s devices. It runs on Android 16, and there are some notable changes that are worth taking a look at, especially for tablet users. One of our favorites is the one-handed mode, which makes navigation supers-simple on devices with larger screens.

Although any update is welcome, most Samsung owners are probably already looking forward to what’s next. Thanks to reliable leaks, we know that Samsung is already working on its One UI 8.5 update that will bring a lot of new AI features. While plans can always change, we’ve heard that Samsung is working on real-time translation that can be used during meetings.

Furthermore, the brand is also working on a tool that will be able to craft social media posts for you, along with a more intelligent Clipboard app. Of course, that isn’t all that we’re looking forward to, but there does seem to be quite a bit in the works for this next major update. With that said, keep an eye out for future coverage, and also be sure to check your supported Samsung device for new updates.
