Walmart’s Exclusive 4K Steelbook Edition For Black Phone 2 Looks Incredible

October 17, 2025

Black Phone 2 releases in theaters this weekend (October 17), but if you already know you want to add it to your physical media collection, Walmart has opened preorders for an exclusive Steelbook Edition 4K Blu-ray that looks very cool. The steelbook case features Ethan Hawke’s character the Grabber on the front, and a phone booth on the back. The front and back covers have a cloudy gray color palette that likely connects to the nightmares experienced by one of the main characters.

Black Phone 2’s Limited Edition Steelbook is available to preorder for $44.25 at Walmart. The standard edition 4K Blu-ray is up for preorder for $32.75, and the 1080p Blu-ray edition is $30. Universal is also releasing a Black Phone 2-Movie Collection on 4K Blu-ray. At the moment, the $52.75 double feature costs about 10 bucks less than buying the sequel and the first movie separately.

$44.25 | Exclusive to Walmart

Black Phone 2’s Limited Edition Steelbook comes with 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and digital copies of the movie. We’ll update this story once we learn more about technical specifications, special features, and a physical edition release date.

The standard edition 4K Blu-ray also comes with two discs and a digital copy of Black Phone 2. The only difference between the two is the steelbook case.

$52.75

The Black Phone released in theaters in 2021, but the 4K Blu-ray edition didn’t hit stores until 2023. At the moment, the 4K Blu-ray edition of The Black Phone is $31, so the 2-Movie Collection offers solid value. It’s worth noting that the 2-Movie Collection only comes with 4K Blu-ray discs and digital copies of each film.

The Black Phone Film Series

If you need to rewatch The Black Phone before heading to the theater to see the sequel, Amazon and Walmart have the standard Blu-ray and DVD combo pack for only $10. You’ll also notice V/H/S 85 in the list below. That’s because there’s an in-universe short film called Dreamkill in the Shudder anthology movie. The director of both Black Phone movies, Scott Derrickson, directed Dreamkill. Derrickson co-write both films and Dreamkill with his screenwriting partner C. Robert Cargill.

Set four years after the original, Black Phone 2 once again stars Mason Thames as Finney Blake, Madeline McGraw as Gwen Blake, and Ethan Hawke as the Grabber. In the sequel, Gwen Blake has disturbing nightmares that include a phone ringing. The supernatural horror film has earned fairly positive reviews from critics. For reference, the original holds an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the sequel currently sits at 74%. Both films were produced by Blumhouse Productions and Crooked Highway, with distribution by Universal Pictures.

Read “The Black Phone” Short Story

The Black Phone series is based on a short story by Joe Hill, the award-winning horror fiction writer and creator of Locke & Key. The Black Phone was one of the standout stories in Hill’s 2005 debut collection 20th Century Ghosts. I’d highly recommend reading the original story and the rest of the collection if you haven’t already. And even if you have read it, there’s a new 20th Century Ghosts: 20th Anniversary Edition that honestly would look great displayed next to Black Phone 2’s Limited Edition Steelbook.

$15 (was $20)

20th Century Ghosts: 20th Anniversary Edition has a cloudy blue and magenta cover and stained page edges with creepy crawlies. The 336-page collection includes 15 stories, a new afterword by Joe Hill, and an introduction by Christopher Golden. The 20th Anniversary Edition released in August and is available for only $15 (was $20).

It’s worth mentioning that William Morrow also published a Black Phone 2 tie-in edition called The Black Phone Stories in September. It’s the same book, just with a movie poster for Black Phone 2 as the cover and an alternate title. You can get the movie tie-in edition for $19, but honestly the 20th Anniversary Edition paperback is much cooler and four bucks cheaper.

The cheapest physical edition is the standard trade paperback with the original cover for $11.29.

$26.60 (was $40) | Releases October 21

If you like the Black Phone movies, you’d probably enjoy Joe Hill’s novels, too. And the timing here couldn’t be better, as Hill’s long-awaited fifth novel releases October 21. King Sorrow, a supernatural horror novel about a group of college friends who summon a dragon with dark magic, is available to preorder for a huge discount at Amazon. The hardcover edition of King Sorrow clocks in at 896 pages and is $26.60 (was $40).

Here’s a list of Joe Hill’s novels and collections. All of them are worth checking out, and you can get paperback copies of most for pretty cheap.
