Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series could see a major shakeup

October 18, 2025

Samsung’s flagship phone lineup is pretty robust, with three different sizes to choose from, which means you can easily find one that meets your needs. And while the Galaxy S25+ might not be the most popular version of the phone in the series, the Galaxy S25 Edge might be even worse, with the series reportedly being canceled after just one device.

Now what makes this last bit of information important is that, earlier in the year, we heard rumors that the Edge could replace the Plus variant in the upcoming year’s model lineup. But now, with the company dropping the Edge line, the Galaxy S26+ could make a surprise comeback if new information is to be believed.

Things are shifting

Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about this change, but this is the first time we’ve seen evidence that it might really happen. The news comes from SmartPrix, sharing that the Galaxy S26+ has been spotted in the GSMA IMEI database, coming in as model number SM-S947B (via Android Authority).

What makes this piece of information even more interesting is that it looks like Samsung might also scrap its “Pro” monikor for the upcoming series as well. Samsung initially had a pretty ambitious plan for the Galaxy S26 series, with the idea of selling three different phones with very different target audiences.

But that now might not be the case, with the lineup reverting to its old ways, just like the previous lineup before it. Of course, this is all early news, and things could change from one day to the next. And while Samsung has been delivering its new devices in January for the past couple of years, there’s a good chance we might see the release date for these models slide.

It’s not clear why at the moment, but there’s news that Samsung could be launching its new Galaxy S series sometime in March 2026. Although this would be a big change, it wouldn’t really be a huge issue in the grand scope of its releases. We only have a couple of months left until the new year, which is when we should get more clarity regarding Samsung’s upcoming lineup.
