Are you still unsure about whether you should side with Auntie’s Choice or the Order in The Outer Worlds 2? These two factions aren’t just at odds with each other. They’re actually gearing up for war owing to vastly different ideologies. Naturally, you can step in and broker an agreement between the two, or you can antagonize both at your peril. We’ve got all the details for you in our article, but be ready for major spoilers.

An Equitable Arrangement and A Computation with the Computronic Cerebrum quests

There are several interlocking quests that are part of this entire arc where you side with Auntie’s Choice or the Order of the Ascendant. Here’s what you need to know:

  • During a main quest called “Fiends in High Places,” you have the option to spare or kill Augustine de Vries. What’s important here is that your actions ensure the survival of the diplomatic delegates.
  • After a debriefing back aboard your ship, you’ll be able to travel to three destinations: ACS Undisputed Claim, Cloister, and Praetor.
  • The new main quest–“A Computation with the Computronic Cerebrum”–tasks you with gaining control of the Archive on Cloister. You can do this on your own or you can obtain support from Auntie’s Choice and/or the Order beforehand. If you finish this main quest without helping either faction, then gaining their aid would be moot and unnecessary.
  • When you talk to the representatives of both factions, you’ll be given additional side quests. Complete these as you see fit to gain an audience with Auntie Cleo (Auntie’s Choice) and Ruth Basar (Order). You’ll also have another mission called “An Equitable Arrangement.”
  • Later, Cleo and Basar will have a remote video call. Depending on your dialogue responses, you’ll be able to keep the peace between these two organizations. In turn, they’ll help you as you venture deep into the Archive and also once you reach the game’s last area/point-of-no-return.

Note 1: It’s a good idea to have a high Speech skill to see additional responses during the negotiations.

Note 2: Killing too many NPCs/troops that belong to a certain faction will lower your reputation with them. Killing integral NPCs, such as faction leaders, will cause that organization to turn hostile permanently.

Note 3: You can take the Archive on your own–i.e. the peace talks have failed or you immediately went to that location. However, this might force you to make a decision on which faction you’d side with afterward. It may also cause the opposing faction to turn hostile permanently.
