Sony and NCSoft are making a new Horizon MMO, but it’s not the only entry in the series in the works right now, it seems. Developer Guerrilla Games said the studio is “busily working on” new experiences where players can “hunt machines in the world of Horizon.”
“More on that to come,” the developer said.
Guerrilla has not announced any new Horizon games, but it’s been reported for some time now that the developer is making a multiplayer Horizon game. Reporter Jason Schreier reiterated this today following the announcement of the MMO. The multiplayer Horizon game is “Guerrilla’s next big project,” he said.
The Horizon series debuted in 2017 with Horizon: Zero Dawn. The game came to PC in 2020, and a sequel, Forbidden West, launched in 2022. A VR game called Horizon: Call of the Mountain launched in 2023, while another spin-off, Lego Horizon Adventures, came out in 2024.
A Horizon movie is now in the works and could begin filming in 2026 and release in 2027.
In other Horizon news, Sony and Tencent are currently beefing in court over the game Light of Motiram. Sony claims the game is a “slavish clone” of the Horizon series and rips off a number of elements from Sony’s game franchise.
