Strands is the NYT’s latest word game after the likes of Wordle, Spelling Bee and Connections – and it’s great fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands hints.

My first hunch on seeing the theme “paw patrol” was that we would be looking for a variety of animals with paws, but after finding “dogs” and it coming up as a non-game word I had to rethink. It was only later that I realized this was just a part of the WORKINGDOGS spangram.
I managed to get going after seeing GUIDE and SERVICE, but it wasn’t until a hint gave me GUARD that I understood what we were searching for.
After completing this list it made me think about how many different roles working dogs have in the human world and this search didn’t even include the most famous dog job of all – solving mysteries and eating Scooby snacks.
