You may play Death Stranding 2 on PC sooner than you think

What’s happened? Death Stranding 2 looks set to follow the same PS5-to-PC path as the first game. The sequel launched on PS5 in June 2025, but a fresh ESRB listing now shows a Windows PC version rated under Sony Interactive Entertainment. It’s the strongest sign yet that a PC launch announcement is getting close.

  • The ESRB page, which appeared briefly before being taken down, listed Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for PC with the same Mature 17+ rating as its PS5 counterpart.
  • Sony, not a third-party publisher, is directly listed, which is usually a sign of an in-house, optimised PC port.
  • This mirrors the release pattern of the first Death Stranding, which hit PC months after its console launch.

Why this matters: For PC gamers, this could be big news. Essentially, it means you might soon experience the full journey of Death Stranding 2 without needing a PS5. Historically, the first Death Stranding leaped PC within less than a year of its console release, so a 2026 PC arrival seems entirely plausible.

If the game hits PC sooner rather than later, one can expect benefits like support for PC-specific resolutions, mods, and more flexible control schemes. For those who’ve been waiting or holding off on buying, the announcement could shape upgrade plans. Also, the fact that Sony Interactive Entertainment, not a third-party publisher is listed suggests this port is getting first-party backing and possibly optimised performance.

Kojima Production

What this means for you: If you’ve been curious about trying Death Stranding 2 but don’t own a PS5, now might be your time. The ESRB rating means the PC version is real and likely coming within months. If you already game on PC, you could get much of the cinematic and narrative experience without having to buy additional hardware. If you prefer console-based experiences or happen to own a PS5, it’s still worth watching. A PC port may lead to sales, bundles, or even special editions down the line. Either way, this leak added real momentum to what was once just hearsay. And since we’re talking timing, the game is already discounted for Black Friday, as you can see below.

Okay, so what’s next? Now it’s really just a matter of waiting for Sony or Kojima Productions to make things official. If the pattern from the first game repeats, we could see a PC reveal in the next few months, possibly tied to a big event like The Game Awards or Sony’s State of Play. In the meantime, keep an eye on storefront listings and database trackers. Once a PC version shows up on Steam or the Epic Games Store, you’ll know the announcement is right around the corner.
