Spotify finally rolls out music videos to users in the US and Canada

Following a beta launch in the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Indonesia, and Kenya in 2024, Spotify is now finally bringing music videos to users in the US and Canada.

We first heard about the development via Variety back in mid-November, but the music streaming giant has now come out and confirmed the feature’s rollout itself.

Spotify is finally bringing music videos to the US

A smarter shuffle comes in tow

Music videos are still in beta, and are only rolling out to users with a Premium subscription. Spotify says that its music video catalog will remain limited until the feature is in beta, but it will expand as availability grows over the coming months.

This expansion gives millions more listeners access to a catalog of official music videos, from studio versions to live performances and covers.

The expansion might just be the result of a recent 8,400 respondent Burson survey. More than 70 percent of the survey’s respondents said that more video content would enhance their experience on Spotify.

This comes soon after the music streaming giant and the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) announced a new license agreement, one that gives Spotify “new rights to build video features that better connect artists and fans.”

As mentioned earlier, the feature is now rolling out to users in the US and Canada. For starters, ensure that you have an active Spotify Premium subscription. If so, open Spotify on your TV, desktop, Android, or iOS device, select a supported track, and tap “Switch to video.”

The video will start playing from the spot where the audio-only track left off. Users can tap “Switch to audio” to, well, return to audio.

Users can begin exploring music videos from artists like Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano, Carín León, and more. As mentioned earlier, the catalog will expand once the feature exits beta.
