Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 takes place in the Belle Époque France-inspired fantasy world where players must set out to defeat the Paintress. The looming antagonist Paintress wakes every year to paint a cursed number, and anyone that age vanishes from the earth. This year, the number is 33, and players must defeat her so she can never paint death again.
