Samsung’s next big thing, the Galaxy Z TriFold finally made its debut, but has yet to make a real splash since it’s only currently available in Korea. And while those in the US and other regions patiently wait for it to arrive, it looks like we’re getting a chance to see just how much this phone can take thanks to new durability testing.
The video comes from the JerryRigEverything channel, known for subjecting some of the best phones through a gauntlet of durability challenges. The Galaxy Z TriFold gets tested in a number of ways, and it’s interesting to see how this high-priced foldable handles attacks to its screens, bezels, camera lenses, and more.
It’s as good as it can be
Samsung was one of the first to come out with a foldable phone for the consumer market, and over the years, has refined its devices. Although the Galaxy Z TriFold is completely new territory, we’re still seeing all the refinement from its previous devices trickle down into this device.
And for the most part, it looks quite sturdy. Despite being subjected to a number of different tests, the Galaxy Z TriFold holds up well. Of course, the phone’s biggest weaknesses are its hinges and screens. And when the phone is bent in the wrong direction when open, it instantly suffers.
The phone breaks almost immediately, with the screen going black and showing no images. It’s one of those things that’s unavoidable at this point. While most people won’t have this issue, it’s good to see what the Galaxy Z TriFold can handle when pushed to the extreme.
It’s what you’d expect
For the most part, it’s pretty much what you’d expect from a foldable. While we’ve come a long way from the first ones released years ago, they’re still a lot more vulnerable to damage when compared to regular slab phones.
If you’re thinking about picking one up, it’s probably going to be a good idea to grab some type of insurance on the phone. We don’t know how much the phone will be in the US, but it’ll be one of the most expensive phones that you can buy.
Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long to find out all the details since it’s scheduled to get a proper release in Q1 2026. If you’re not really confident with the Galaxy Z TriFold, we recommend picking up the Galaxy Z Fold 7 instead. The phone delivers impressive build quality, and even withstood JerryRigEverything’s testing as well.
