Samsung has officially announced version 6.31 of the Samsung Health app, a release centered on only one feature: snoring detection.
For reference, Galaxy Watch 4 and later released Galaxy wearables all offer snoring detection as part of the tech’s sleep tracking tech. With V6.31 of the Samsung Health app, the South Korean tech giant is making a shift towards more precision.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 review: I’m smitten, and think you will be too
I never expected to feel like this
Highlighted by Samsung in release notes, which were spotted and pointed out by tipster @theonecid on X, via SamMobile, “the snoring detection solution has been upgraded.”
This essentially just means that the backend algorithm that powers snoring detection has been enhanced, and that Samsung Health, paired with your Galaxy Watch, will be able to more effectively distinguish actual snoring from ambient nighttime noise.
Improved accuracy will come at a cost
The upgrade, however, does come with some sacrifices. Once you update your Samsung Health app to version 6.31, all your old snoring recordings will be lost. Lost, not in the truest sense, considering they’ll remain historical logs and snoring frequency data will remain visible in the app. However, you won’t be able to listen to the actual snoring audio recordings. This is because of a supposed “data reset.”
Files recorded after the update will play normally.
If you’re ready to trade your old recordings for an enhanced detection algorithm, you can update the Samsung Health app by heading to the Galaxy Store, navigating to Menu > Updates, and then locating the Samsung Health app and its update icon.
