We don’t need better graphics/hardware.
Some of the best games this generation didn’t have high end current generation graphics. Heck, some had PS4 or even PS3 level graphics.
A lot of the games this generation that had the best graphics were either sub par, or it was not the reason that made them great. (Heck, no game that just has amazing graphics and nothing else, is great)
How can people say this was one of the worst generations ever when we have had games like:
Baldurs Gate III
Cyberpunk 2.0
Elden Ring
God of War Ragnarok
Horizon Forbidden West
Silksong
Hades II
Clair Obscur
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Blue Prince
That’s just quickly off the top of my head.
Just from that short list above have been the best games in the last 10 years and there have been many more, especially from the Indie or AA scene.
All next generation is gong to do is make AAA studios continue to produce slop and have graphics as the ‘selling point’.
This has been one of the best generations IMO (short list above and many more games).
We don’t need new hardware to make great games, we need more creative and passionate developers.
