Samsung Galaxy S26’s late February launch looks all but confirmed

January 7, 2026

Samsung typically unveils its flagship Galaxy S phone in January or by early February. All leaks point to the Galaxy S26 lineup arriving much later than usual, with a late February unveiling and the phones only hitting shelves in early March. Another leak from a reliable source now adds weight to those reports, suggesting Samsung will only take the wraps off its 2026 flagship in late February.

Over the last month or two, Korean reports have reportedly claimed that the Galaxy S26 lineup will go official on February 25, 2026. Evan Blass, a.k.a @evleaks, has now given his stamp of approval to those reports, calling the date “100% correct” and saying “you can take it to the bank.”

Assuming other reported information is also accurate, Samsung will host an Unpacked event in San Francisco, US, to officially showcase the Galaxy S26 to the world. And while an official release date is not clear, the S26 lineup should hit stores in early March.

The Galaxy S26 launch may hold very few surprises

While the Galaxy S26’s debut is almost two months away, almost everything about the entire lineup has already leaked online. Samsung initially planned to replace the Plus model with a super-slim Edge variant. But the Galaxy S25 Edge’s failure apparently led the company to change its plan and stick to the Plus model. That’s also supposedly the reason why the Galaxy S26 is launching over a month later than usual.

As for features, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display could be one of its key selling points. Reportedly, the display will automatically limit visibility from off-angles when you open sensitive or banking apps. This would make it harder for prying eyes nearby to see what’s on your screen.

Besides the usual yearly upgrades like a faster flagship chipset, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is also tipped to get a long-overdue boost to wired and wireless charging speeds. Wired charging could hit speeds of up to 60W, with wireless charging reaching 25W. More importantly, the phone may come with built-in magnets for native Qi2 and support for magnetic accessories.

Unfortunately, battery capacity will remain unchanged at 5,000mAh. On the bright side, the phones won’t reportedly get a price increase, at least in the US.
