The Pitt thrived at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, with star Noah Wyle taking home Best Male Actor (TV – Drama) on Sunday.
During his speech, Wyle thanked healthcare workers, who are the heart of the HBO medical drama — the Emmy-winning star plays Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the Emergency Department of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.
“To all the healthcare workers in the world, thank you,” he said onstage.
The Pitt also took home Best Television Series (Drama) at the Globes, with creator R. Scott Gemmill also taking a moment to thank healthcare workers during his acceptance speech.
“I also want to thank the first responders and healthcare workers who are the real heroes who inspire us,” said Gemmill. “Deborah Khan, from The Diplomat, reminded me I have to thank all the civil servants as well.
“We live in a very divided country in a world right now, but I think cinema — and I call TV “cinema” — brings us all together, not only as an audience, but as a community. And we show people what we can do when a bunch of individuals, hundreds of us, who have a common goal, and we work together with decency, humanity, acceptance, and respect for each other, we can do amazing things.”
