Hytale Devs Are Paying $25K Bounty For Serious Bugs

January 15, 2026

Hytale is out today in early access a mere six months after it was canceled by Riot Games. Developer Hypixel warned players ahead of time that the game was unfinished and still has bugs. But the studio is taking a big step towards ensuring the security of Hytale by paying out $25,000 bounties to players who can find and identify serious vulnerabilities in the game.

“Keeping our community and players safe is a top priority for us,” wrote one of the devs on X. “We’ve already paid out bounties and are working on reported issues as they come in.”

In addition to setting the rate for $25,000, the message notes that some payouts may go over that amount depending upon the severity of the issues uncovered.

Big thanks to all the security researchers working with us on Hytale.

Our program offers payouts of over $25k+ depending on…

The complete details for Hytale’s bug bounty program are on the game’s official site. There are some restrictions, however. For example, only players over 18 will be paid for any bounties. And of course, bug hunters will need to purchase their own copy of Hytale to participate.

GameSpot recently examined why Hytale was canceled by Riot Games and how it came back to life courtesy of Hypixel co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme in November 2025. Over 400,000 viewers have already checked out Hytale on Twitch, which is especially impressive considering that it launched outside of Steam. Hytale will eventually go to consoles, but it may never be released on Steam at all.
