YouTube offers countless hours of entertainment from millions of creators. And while this will occupy most of your time on the platform, it does also offer official content like movies and TV shows as well.
Yes, you can rent and buy movies and TV shows, but there’s also access to plenty of free content as well. It’s a nice option to have when you’re looking to watch something but don’t know what you want to watch.
A great time to catch some Sesame Street
And if you’re a parent that’s always trying to find content for your children to watch, YouTube made a huge announcement today that should pique your interest. The brand just announced that it will host the largest digital library of Sesame Street content, with more than 100 episodes that will be available on YouTube and YouTube Kids.
As you can imagine, this is a pretty big deal, considering that Sesame Street is a cornerstone of children’s entertainment and education, and has been for many folks growing up over the past few decades. Being able to freely access the content through YouTube is going to allow a whole new generation to enjoy the entire Sesame Street gang.
If you’re interested in diving in, you can now head to the Sesame Street or Sesame Street Classics channel. The channels will provide access to more recent episodes, along with some of the more classic and iconic episodes from the past. In addition, YouTube will also curate this content, creating “unique Shorts” and will also have “long-form compilations” thematically organized as well.
YouTube will also host the Oscars now
This isn’t the first time YouTube has hosted traditional TV and film content, but Sesame Street is a pretty big deal. Late last year, we also got news that YouTube would begin hosting the Oscars starting in 2029.
While awards shows have seen less and less viewership each year, there could be a chance that the show does well on an online streaming platform. Naturally, we’ll just have to wait and see how this all plays out.
Sesame Street for all
Again, if you want to watch some Sesame Street episodes, you can do so by heading to the main channel, or the Classics channel for full-length episodes. You can do this through the main YouTube app or the Kids app, or just navigate to YouTube using your browser. It’s a great way to revisit some old favorites that you might have seen as a child.
