The calendars may have changed, but some things remain the same. I made no secret of the fact that the Motorola Razr Ultra was my favorite smartphone last year, and nothing has happened so far in 2026 to change my mind. It was in my pocket throughout the holidays, and whenever I’m not testing another smartphone, it becomes my daily carry.
However, even with Motorola’s aggressive sales, it remains an expensive device — often touching $1,000. Thankfully, carrier deals and discounts knock a significant amount off that, and if you’re willing to stick with the same carrier for three years, you can even get one for free. That’s precisely what AT&T is still offering. With a qualifying trade-in, you can pick up a Motorola Razr Ultra for no additional cost to your monthly bill. You have to stick with the company for 36 months to redeem all the bill credits, but if you don’t switch often, it’s a fantastic deal.
Why I still love the Motorola Razr Ultra
Excellent form factor and fantastic performance
If you’re considering a clamshell foldable, it’s hard to beat the Motorola Razr Ultra. Its spec sheet is fantastic, boasting a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and 16GB of RAM. Base storage is also outstanding, with 512GB and 1TB models available. I’ve never had a performance issue, and I love that I get a full, flagship smartphone experience when I unfold the Razr Ultra.
Its 7-inch display is gorgeous, but that’s not why I prefer the Razr Ultra to other foldables like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. I bought a clamshell folding phone for the outer screen experience. I still want to be able to scroll social media and respond to WhatsApp messages without unfolding my phone 100 times per day. The outer screen experience on the Razr Ultra is top-notch, and I can quickly install any programs I want to run on the cover display without any additional software.
The battery life is solid thanks to the phone’s 4,700mAh battery and 68W wired charging, which quickly top it off. The dual 50MP cameras aren’t much to write home about, but they get the job done, with solid detail and color saturation.
It’s a matter of personal preference, but I also love the design. I think it’s a sleek device that’s a conversation starter every time I pull it out. All told, the Razr Ultra is a wonderful smartphone, and if you can pick one up for less, I highly recommend it.

The Moto Razr Ultra is the foldable you’ve been waiting for. With a new camera system, top-tier specs, and a larger, brighter display, this is a Razr designed to go head-to-head with Samsung — for a price, of course.
