Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series is almost here, and just like us, Samsung, too, can’t contain its excitement.
Over the previous few months, we’ve heard a lot of leaks and rumors about a potential novel S26 Ultra feature. It’s called Privacy Display, and it is supposed to mimic a frosted privacy screen protector without the screen protector actually being there.
Well, any doubt about the feature arriving should now be put to rest, as Samsung has all but confirmed Privacy Display’s existence with One UI 8.5.
Elaborate leak reveals the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s ‘Privacy display’ feature
Debuting exclusively on the Ultra flagship
In a new blog post meant to share information about upcoming Good Lock features for One UI 8.5, the South Korean tech giant mistakenly pulled back the curtain on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display (via 9to5Google).
The tech giant highlighted upgrades that are meant to give users more granular controls over elements that were previously locked down. Samsung detailed upgrades coming via LockStar, QuickStar, Home Up, Game Booster+, and more.
Within the section where the tech giant detailed Quick Settings resizing capabilities for QuickStar, a stray screenshot of the Quick Settings screen inadvertently showcased a dedicated toggle for ‘Privacy Display.’
Hidden in plain sight
The Quick Setting toggle is located right below the music widget and right above the Nearby devices toggle in the screenshot above. It effectively confirms that Samsung is working on the feature, corroborating recent rumors of the feature’s existence.

The feature, at least from this video and early demos, looks impressive, and it will clearly be one of the main selling points of the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
From what we already know, users will be able to keep the feature disabled, though many would want to keep it in its leaked automatic mode. The setting would automatically trigger Privacy Display in certain locations, such as elevators or other public places.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch in late February. We’ll likely learn a lot more about Privacy Display and other new features making their way to the upcoming phones by then.
