This surprise Motorola deal slashes $700 off the 1TB Razr Ultra AND includes free earbuds — consider me intrigued

Motorola flexed its foldable might by releasing three flip phone models in 2025: the Motorola Razr 2025, Motorola Razr Plus 2025, and Motorola Razr Ultra 2025. While the base and mid-tier models are impressive values, the Razr Ultra 2025 quickly became the one to watch. It became the first, and only, flip phone in the U.S. to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform. That, paired with a versatile cover screen, great camera system, and intuitive software made the Razr Ultra 2025 an early favorite for best flip phone of the year.

The price felt a little high at launch to me, and I initially recommended the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 instead. A few months later, and Motorola’s latest sale completely changes the situation. The company is selling the Razr Ultra 2025 in the 16GB/1TB configuration for nearly half off, slashing the price down to just $799.99. If that wasn’t enough, Motorola is giving away a free pair of Moto Buds Plus to those who take up the offer.

I think that’s enough to make the Razr Ultra 2025 a slam dunk purchase for anyone interested in foldables. But even if you’re not, this sale serves as a valuable lesson that it’s almost always waiting a few months after a new phone launches to get the best deal.

I tested the base model Razr 2025 last year, and that’s part of the reason I wasn’t entirely sold on the Razr Ultra 2025 model. The entry-level Motorola foldable retailed for just $699.99, and it felt like all that most people would ever need. Sure, the phone was a bit sluggish and underpowered compared to the Plus and Ultra variants, but it also came with major savings. I couldn’t justify paying an extra $600 for the flagship Razr Ultra model.

The situation has completely flipped with Motorola’s winter sale, because the 1TB version of the Razr Ultra 2025 — originally priced at $1,499.99 — now costs $799.99 for a limited time. That’s just $100 more than the base-model Razr 2025 that I once thought was an incredible value. Tack on Motorola’s trade-in promotions, and it’s easy to snag a Razr Ultra 2025 deal that nets you the highest-end model for less than the MSRP of the base model.

As a reminder, the base model Samsung Galaxy S25, Google Pixel 10, and iPhone 17 all start at $799.99. Here’s the catch: the Samsung and Google phones start with 128GB of base storage, and the iPhone starts at 256GB of base storage. For the same price as these phones, you can buy the Razr Ultra 2025 and get a folding phone with much more storage.

I don’t understand how Motorola is making money off this deal, but I guess its loss is your gain. Storage costs are expensive — the 1TB version of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra costs $1,660 at full price, for instance. That makes it all the more wild that Motorola is selling the 1TB model of the Razr Ultra 2025 for only $800. It has the storage to last you years, piling on photos, videos, and apps without issue.

When we reviewed the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, we called it “the flip phone, nearly perfected.” Aside from the standout processor and 16GB of onboard memory, the 7-inch pOLED main screen and 4-inch pOLED cover screen are sure to impress. Both displays are 165Hz for more smoothness than you’ll likely ever need. To top it all off, the main screen can hit 4,500 nits of peak brightness.

Then, there’s a trip of 50MP cameras, including a main, ultrawide, and selfie camera. It’s a complete package, and the only gripe I had with this phone was the price. Now, that’s not much of a concern.

Today’s best Motorola Razr 2025, Motorola Razr Plus 2025 and Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 deals

Free Moto Buds Plus are the icing on the cake

Take a look at the sample cart above, because again, it feels too good to be true. Not only do you get the Razr Ultra 2025 (1TB) for 47% off, but you also get Moto Buds Plus thrown in for free. These cost $130 new, and are an excellent bonus to round out the value proposition here.

Of course, it’s not a good idea to impulse buy a smartphone, no matter how good the deal is. With that being said, if you’ve been waiting for the right deal to upgrade your Android phone, this is the one that should end your search. To get a foldable with a powerful chip and max storage for well under $1,000 plus free earbuds is almost unheard of. It’s yet another reason why it’s worth waiting a few months after launch to avoid paying full price for new phones.

A steal

I had initially written off the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, but the Motorola “Winter Deals Sale” changes things. You can get the top-of-the-line, 1TB storage configuration for nearly half off and get a new pair of earbuds, which feels too good to be true.
