Apple is about to launch a new version of its “affordable” iPhone.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the the iPhone 17e is due “imminently.” For reference, the original “e” model, the iPhone 16e, launched on Feb. 28, 2025, so it makes sense that Apple follows up with a new model this February.
Gurman also claims that the biggest change compared to the old model will be the A19 chip and (thankfully) MagSafe charging. The iPhone 17e will also have Apple’s latest in-house cellular and wireless chip. Finally, Gurman says the price for the iPhone 17e will remain the same as for the previous model: $599.
Mashable Light Speed
Oddly, Gurman did not mention anything about the Dynamic Island, which was previously rumored to be the biggest improvement on the iPhone 17e (the iPhone 16e sports a notch on top and doesn’t have Dynamic Island functionality).
By all accounts, Apple is about to have an incredibly busy 2026, with several iPhone launches scattered throughout the year. New iPads are also coming “soon” according to Gurman, including a new iPad and iPad Air, though those devices are said to look pretty much the same as the current ones. They’ll come with updated chips, as will the iPad mini, though that model will also get an OLED display for the fist time ever.
Finally, Gurman writes, new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and a new MacBook Air with an M5 chip are coming “shortly,” and new Mac Studio models should come fairly quickly afterwards.
It all kicks off with the iPhone 17e, and we’ll be here to cover it in detail when it gets official.
