If you were getting tired of your Fire TV’s menu system, we’ve got good news because Amazon is starting to roll out a revamped Fire TV experience to some of its devices starting today. Unfortunately, the rollout is a bit limited, with Amazon focusing on just a few products and those that are in the US.
However, the brand has stated that the update will reach more devices in just a few months time. The idea of the new interface is for it to be “faster and more streamlined.” Amazon Fire TV products can access a ton of content from a variety of services, so it’s easy to understand why these would be areas of focus for the brand.
A new way to enjoy your shows and movies
Amazon showcased this new change during CES 2026, with TechCrunch reporting that the new update is rolling out today. The new Fire TV experience brings a more modern design, with Amazon sharing that it will have ” improved layouts, rounded corners, redesigned color gradients, updated typography, and more optimized spacing.”
Of course, a new update needs to be more about just its looks if you want a more optimized experience, and Amazon shares that “the team rebuilt the underlying code to make the experience faster. In some cases, we’re seeing up to 20–30% gains in speed when using the new UI.”
In addition to the above, Amazon is now expanding the number of apps that can be pinned to the home screen, bumping up the number considerably, going from just six to a whopping 20. Amazon has also added a shortcut panel that can be accessed from the remote by long pressing the Home button.
Furthermore, Amazon is also making improvements to its mobile app, with “the ability to browse content, manage your watchlist, and play titles on your TV—all with a look and feel that matches the new Fire TV design.” Naturally, you’ll need to try it out for yourself in order to see if things have largely improved over the old UI.
Big changes can be subjective, with some preferring the old versus the new. The update is now available on the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED TV series in the US. Amazon states that in the spring, the update will go out to more devices in more locations. This will also include third-party devices running Fire TV.
Feel free to check out our favorite Fire TV apps while you’re at it. Some of them you might know, but there’s also some you’ve probably never heard of that can really enhance the experience.
