Is the Galaxy S26 too expensive for you? Head to Tracfone instead and you’ll get dirt-cheap wireless and a FREE Samsung phone with new deal

The internet is abuzz with news about the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, but if you just want a solid Samsung phone without all of the fancy bells and whistles, I just uncovered a solid Tracfone deal that you might want to check out.

Tracfone, an MVNO carrier that is currently owned and powered by Verizon, is running a deal that will get you a FREE Galaxy A16 5G when you sign up for any three-month data plan at $50 or higher.

The Galaxy A16 5G isn’t going to win any awards for innovation or groundbreaking performance, but it’s a solid Samsung phone that’s quite good at, well, being a phone. And who knows, the A16 5G might have some specs that surprise you.

Don’t let the approachable price tag fool you, the Galaxy A16 5G isn’t just some forgettable budget phone. The device boasts a lovely 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, an IP54 dust-and-water resistance rating, and a fast-charging 5,000mAh battery. You’ll even get guaranteed OS updates to Android 20 and security upgrades through 2023, which is a rarity in this price range.

The Galaxy A16 5G is a solid phone if you simply need something affordable for basic talk, text, and surfing the web. The 50MP main camera is also pretty decent for the price, and the Exynos 1330 chipset with 4GB of RAM should handle most apps and games with minimal lag. That being said, if you do a lot of video streaming or graphics-intensive gaming on your phone, you might run into some issues.

As for the wireless plans, I’d argue that Tracfone’s Freedom plan is going to offer the best value here. Starting at $50 per month for a single line (or $135 for three months), this data plan gets you unlimited talk, text, and data on Verizon’s vast network, plus a 15GB mobile hotspot and coverage in Mexico and Canada.
